What’s up world?! I’m back with another installment of my docuseries, ‘Round My Block. In this episode, I highlight the ultra-talented, Miss Gifted Hands herself, Guin Gui.

FullSizeRender (4)When Guin Gui picked up the comb as a teenager, it was love at first sight. Although she will admit that it took her a clean hour to complete her first cornrow, it was long before her braiding skills became second nature. As a natural born creative, she’s been responsible for creating some of the most intricate, unique, and out-of-this-world hairstyles you’ve seen on your favorite celebrities and throughout your Instagram Explore page. In this episode, we discussed everything from her Puerto Rican roots, cultural appropriation and whether cornrows on guys over 30 years old are a “do” or “don’t”.

Keke Palmer, Michael B. Jordan, and Justine Skye are just a few of her most recent clients, check out her work on Elle Magazine’s braiding series and here by clicking the video below!

when i first set out to create my blog, i just wanted an outlet to balance my mundane college schedule. but over the years, it has become so much more. writing is how i process my world & the events that take place within it. through aleyarion.com, i seek to help my fellow 20-somethings, like me, working to find light when their paths seem darkened and learn from my mistakes so i can save you the trouble of repeating them. aleyarion.com is witty, vulnerable, and transparent, but most importantly, it's me, unapologetically. peace, peace, peace Aley Arion business inquiries: aleyarion@gmail.com
