My people, my people.
It is my esteemed pleasure to welcome you all back home to the new & improved aleyarion.com!
Yes, it took a minute, but I’m back now; and to stay.
My time away was necessary. It allowed me the time to release my mind and answer one simple question: why are you blogging? I lost sight of this, and for sometime, I would write a piece, share it, and that would be it. But in the last couple of months, prior to my hiatus, I began to receive messages from my people (whom I never knew even read my blog) who shared how this post or that post inspired them or encouraged them about their current situation.
So I took those words and ran with them.
As of late, it’s been on my heart heavily to tell stories. Not just my own chronicles within my m’id-mid life crisis,” but the stories of others.
To know me is to know how much time I spend watching and studying interviews. From the Breakfast Club to Complex Magazine, for years I’ve looked at what the likes of Charlemagne and Brandon “Jinx” Jenkins do, and thought to myself, hey, I can do this too.
I’ve created a new docuseries called, ‘Round My Block, which highlights people of color from all walks of life who are making an impact & shifting culture within the communities they serve. The goal is to show how great things are happening closer than you think. The first video will be rolling out in the next week, so be on the lookout for that!
I also realized I got away from my roots, my love, and the reason I started this blog in the first place: my personal style. Back in college, I had someone to call on to take my pics for my blog, but after graduating, that void was left to be filled. On top of that, since moving the New York, my style has evolved, but not before a great deal of trial and error.
It wasn’t that I was trying to “look like a New Yorker” but when I graduated from school and got out on my own, I felt like the change was necessary; that I had to mature my look. Now, I’m happy to reintroduce my style and personal looks with you all like, like the good ol’ days.
With all of this said, I am here to serve. To use my gift as a writer and creative to inspire anyone who comes across this blog. Not every post will be for everyone, but if you can leave here with at least one gem, I’ve done my job. I realized that everything I’ve gone through in my life, good and bad, wasn’t just for me, it was for me to share with others to show that you can make it, because I did.
here’e to the new Aley Arion: inspiration, interviews, in style.
I’m so excited to see where things go from here and hope you’ll be along for the ride.
How do you like the new look and feel of aleyarion.com? Have you had a time when you wanted to start off on a clean, fresh slate? Let me know in the comments below, I’d love to hear. ❤
