It’s June!

Can you believe it?

I don’t want to.

2016 is going by so fast! Please, stop, wait, slow down!

*sigh*

At any rate, June 1st means that we have officially hit the halfway mark to the year. I always get sentimental around anniversaries and “tennials,” whether official or self-produced, so I wanted to do a mid-year check-in to reflect on the goals I’ve achieved, the cool things that have happened and what I still look to accomplish.

In the past, I was extremely hesitant to share my goals with others; whether that be on my blog or in person. I’m a firm believer that your dreams are not for everyone to know and that they should be protected. There is a thin line between, “speaking it into existence,” and “everything ain’t everybody’s business;” but that’s up to you to define. Still, it’s important to keep track of your goals and for me, putting them into a blog post holds me accountable for making them come into fruition.

With that said, let’s get into them!

Top 5 Cool Things I’ve Achieved in 2016… So Far

1.) I moved to New York: I made the decision to live in New York back when I was 10 years old; I just didn’t know how I would get here. God knew though and everyday I wake up grateful to be here.

2.) I started my career: I can’t stress enough how low I was at the start of the year when I still hadn’t started my career after college, but when the right door opened at the right time for me to step into, I jumped!

3.) I moved into my first apartment… today!: Yay! I’m officially an unofficial Brooklyn girl! I’ll be living in the heart of Bed-Stuy with three young, black, and gifted roommates. I’m excited to start this journey as a rent-payer and will give you all a detailed blog post on how it happened.

4.) I’ve met some of my favorite people in the city: Being at the right place, at the right time must be the theme of 2016, because when I tell you I’ve been able to run into some of favorite people just roaming the street… well… just see for yourself:

5.) I started going back to church: Mother’s Day ended my year and a half long hiatus from church. I’ve been attending Hillsong NYC for the last month and I must say it feels good to be back in His house every Sunday.

Top 5 Things I Want to Accomplish by December

1.) Get published/freelance: In/for a magazine, online publication, etc. and get paid for it!

2.) Travel abroad: Spain, Italy, London; not particularly in that order.

3.) Relaunch my Youtube channel: I’ve been slack, but I feel like I’m finally ready to commit to my channel and co-post my stories so you all can see my beautiful face 🙂

4.) Increase Instagram/Twitter following: Kinda embarrassed about this one, but you all know my blog is about transparency. I deleted my previous Instagram account last summer as part of my post-grad cleansing and it’s been an uphill battle trying to get my followers back. But this isn’t about the number of likes, it’s about reach. I want to help as many millennials as I can through my platforms.

5.) 2 blog post a week!: Since I returned from my other hiatus earlier this year where I gave my blog and social media a break, I’ve been maintaining my one-post-a-week regimens. But I want to give you all more on a consistent basis so starting this week, expect an additional post!

And that’s all folks! It feels good to reflect on all the things I’ve accomplished in these past 6 months and I’m determined to stick with these new goals and make them come to past in the 6 months ahead. It’s important to give yourself a pat on the back for the goals you’ve accomplished whether big or small; and just because the stuff that you’ve accomplished isn’t “postable” doesn’t make them any least important. If they are your dreams/goals, they matter!

Before you leave: Let’s uplift and inspire one another; share this post with someone who you think would benefit from this knowledge! Let me know the goals that you’ve achieved this first half of the year and feel free to share the goals to look to reaching by December! I’m rooting for you!!! Like, comment, and follow for new blog updates!

Sincerely,

Aley Arion – Your Millennial Mami

when i first set out to create my blog, i just wanted an outlet to balance my mundane college schedule. but over the years, it has become so much more. writing is how i process my world & the events that take place within it. through aleyarion.com, i seek to help my fellow 20-somethings, like me, working to find light when their paths seem darkened and learn from my mistakes so i can save you the trouble of repeating them. aleyarion.com is witty, vulnerable, and transparent, but most importantly, it's me, unapologetically. peace, peace, peace Aley Arion business inquiries: aleyarion@gmail.com
