Some people want the money, cars, clothes, and well… you know the rest. Others, like Sean Taylor, just want to make dope music and fly gear. This South Carolina native accredits his Southern roots to the creation of his lifestyle brand, Sabal Palm, which embodies his pride in everything the Palmetto states stands for. Last summer, Sabal Palm dropped its signature t-shirt and crewneck line bearing “Burg” across the chest. Who knew such a simple design (which Sean admits to not liking initially lol) would create such a huge buzz in his hometown of Orangeburg, SC and throughout college campuses, to then become the brand’s bestseller.
Sean expresses that he draws his inspiration from skateboard/surf brands, a cross between street-wear and luxury designs, and his environment as a whole. He also believes that “hip-hop has had a huge influence on fashion all together”.
If I could convert his fashion inspiration into a musical example, one name would come to mind: Pharrell. Sean’s a big fan; and shares how he used to rock Ice Creams in his younger years. Although he can’t exactly pinpoint the exact style of his music, you could best associate his compositions to a mix of jazz and smooth “lushy” sounds, like a Tribe Called Quest back in the day. Still, one thing is for sure: Sean is all about peace and positivity, and hopes to inspire others through this music and apparel to “be yourself.” I must say, that message alone has made a fan out of me.
Sean is looking to drop more Sabal Palm gear VERY SOON. So be on the lookout for new graphic tees and crewnecks, as well as the highly requested crops tops for ladies.
