“It’s just clothes.”

While browsing through Tumblr and Instagram, you may have found yourself stopping mid stroll to admire a girl with big hair and a personal style like no other; that girl was probably Kiera.  Kiera Brown, also known as KieraPlease, has become a familiar face in the online fashion scene with her effortless ability to create one-of-a-kind ensembles that’ll make you wonder, “How did she have to courage to walk out in that?” Her response: It’s just clothes.

I was able to chat with Kiera to a look into where such great style like her’s comes from, to bring you another installment of “Where Raised You?”

Her hometown of Woodbridge, Virginia, won’t get all the credit for the fashionista that Kiera is today, but Sesame Street, Clueless, and Pirates of the Caribbean definitely will. She says that she draws her inspiration directly from the movies and television shows that she has grown to love over the years. With no defined category of style to belong to, she shared how many people try to place her way of dressing to a particular title; which is seemingly impossible. When you have the creative ability to go from wearing a 70’s flower-child look to keeping it cool in full 90’s inspired attire with a pair of staple Dr. Martens boots, like she does, labels get thrown out the window!

Many believe in the concept that “fashion is forever,” and the way Kiera sees it, nothing EVER goes out of style. I admire this concept, because when someone is in the process of finding their style, they tend to look to others for inspiration in order to cultivate a look that is unique to them. When doing this, it is important to not limit yourself to a specific genre or time because of what others may think is outdated. Instead, USE EVERYTHING because every trend and every look will come back full circle (i.e. Air Force One’s and all things vintage).

Kiera’s advice to anyone trying to find their personal style is just to go for it: wear what you want to wear, and do it with confidence. To keep up with her dopeness, follow her on all social networks at the name: @KieraPlease.

when i first set out to create my blog, i just wanted an outlet to balance my mundane college schedule. but over the years, it has become so much more. writing is how i process my world & the events that take place within it. through aleyarion.com, i seek to help my fellow 20-somethings, like me, working to find light when their paths seem darkened and learn from my mistakes so i can save you the trouble of repeating them. aleyarion.com is witty, vulnerable, and transparent, but most importantly, it's me, unapologetically. peace, peace, peace Aley Arion business inquiries: aleyarion@gmail.com
