Sup Royalty,

I’d like to introduce you all to a new feature on Strawberrys & Carbonara entitled, “Where Raised You?” This segment is intended to place a spotlight on not only how fly the individual is being featured, but where they are from and how their background influences their personal stylistic eye.

To kick things off, I wanted to highlight someone from a smaller town, particularly that of which I attend school in. Jamal, a native of Orangeburg, SC, provided his honest opinion of as to how his town influenced, or did not influence his personal style. He’s all about originality and accessing clothing items that are “rare and hard to get,” which I applaud, since a lot of times the authenticity of one’s personal style can be lost in the wave of new trends. He’s known as a trendsetter, who has inspired others in what to wear, but he admits that he has found people trying to imitate his style, falling short because it’s what he calls, “a copy.” Still, he remains humble throughout and encourages anyone who is trying to find their personal style to do one thing: be comfortable.

Jamal’s outfit consist of a shawl-collar pullover by Ralph Lauren, Nudie Jeans, a Louis Vuitton belt, and the very rare 2007 Jordan Aqua 8’s.

when i first set out to create my blog, i just wanted an outlet to balance my mundane college schedule. but over the years, it has become so much more. writing is how i process my world & the events that take place within it. through aleyarion.com, i seek to help my fellow 20-somethings, like me, working to find light when their paths seem darkened and learn from my mistakes so i can save you the trouble of repeating them. aleyarion.com is witty, vulnerable, and transparent, but most importantly, it's me, unapologetically. peace, peace, peace Aley Arion business inquiries: aleyarion@gmail.com
